Damilano Barolo Lecinquevigne 2014
For my Barolo enthusiasts, this wine is an absolute find. 91 points James Suckling, 90 Wine Spectator, 90 Wine Enthusiast - this wine is incredible today, but can be held tightly in your cellar till 2035 at least; thus is the power of this incredible grape.
Fragrant blue flower, mint, rose petals, orange peel, slight tar (a typical marker of Barolo) on the nose; the palate offers cherry, cranberry, dried sage and white pepper notes. Tannins are youthful but very fine-grained, acidity is excellent and balances the alcohol levels perfectly.
I have less than a case left so please send me your orders - fastest fingers get it. I would pair it with truffle-hinted mushroom risotto, roasted duck, and anything butter-based, partly because in Piemonte, Northern Italy (the home of the Nebbiolo grape from which it is fully made) olives do not grow well, and cooking is done mainly with butter; these Italians know what they're doing when it comes to food and wine.
